The story I’m getting for both of these is that they’re ancient monsters that were slain in one way or another. The colors are throwing me off a little bit because they read more sci fi—is that what you were going for? Also, that wacky leg in the second one is so freaky, I’d play that up because the other parts draw my eye first—the large hand and the noose flying backward. Maybe no arms, or the noose’s trail could lead the eye to the legs? Just ideas c:
These are terrifying. That's all I have to say about that.... Haha! I think just keep pushing them even crazier. Push them until they break and then pull back a little. Maybe easier said than done.
Emmy these are amazing! I’m in love with the first one. It looks terrifying! The flag and spears were a very nice touch! I would only say let’s make the mask terrifying as well, or just nix it and let’s make a terrifying face too. It’s feeling a little Ghibli right now, and we want to steer away from that.
Deemins! Deeeemins! Like Maili pointed out, there's almost a Japanese/Kabuki quality in the strangeness and dark funniness of them. The ideas are solid, I would just try to refine the anatomy and silhouettes. I'd also recommend some animal studies/sketches before you go back to that dragonlike creature. I attended a lecture on animal anatomy at CTN, given by a biology professor who works as a consultant for major animation studios. He mentioned the artists on How to Train Your Dragon were looking at birds, reptiles, cats, and even flying insects for anatomical reference and inspiration. For the humanoid one, I would probably look at work by BROM and ANTHONY JONES for inspiration (warning: some of it's pretty dark/edgy).
These are cool! I like the top one the best, I like how long his hunched over back is, it makes it look hug and creepy. The only thing id say is work on its pelvis it seems off a little to me
